Akershus Tourist Board uses the market name Visit Greater Oslo and is the official marketing and development company for tourism, day visitors and courses and conferences in the region of Akershus.
The company is non-profit, was established in 1987 at the initiative of the tourism industry and the county of Akershus, and works closely with Innovation Norway and VisitOsloRegion.
We represent a wide range of large and small businesses within the tourism industry with approximately 200 industry members and 11 member municipalities and aim to increase visits to the area and to tourism businesses.
Visit Greater Oslo operates the regional tourism units Visit Asker & Bærum, Visit Follo and Visit Romerike.
Our three offices are located in each of the regions to be close to the industry, respectively Asker, Ås and Jessheim.
Visit Greater Oslo develops and markets the region through digital visibility, social media, courses and skills development, storytelling, campaign materials, guides and maps and industry collaboration. We create meeting places between travel agents and business players and annually hold several events aimed at these target groups.
We work to increase the region’s attractiveness through project work with business players and the public sector and want to contribute to a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable development of tourism.
We are a member organization with tourism-related companies within, among others, accommodation, transport, catering and venue rental, culture, experiences, and trade as well as municipalities and regional councils.
