Aurskog-Høland municipality is located in the north-eastern part of Viken and is the largest forestry municipality in Oslo and Viken and one of the largest agricultural municipalities in the county.

The municipality has a rich industrial history with both the Urskog-Høland railway, timber floating in canals and waterways, but also experienced battles against the Swedes, marked by the occupation during the Second World War and assisting refugees across the border through refugee routes, forest find sites and rural areas with buildings from the 17th century.
