Romerike Cathedral
Ullensaker church, also referred to as Romeriksdomen, is a long church from 1958 in Ullensaker municipality in Viken county.
It is part of the Church of Norway and is a parish church in the Upper Romerike parish in Borg diocese.
The building is in concrete and has 650 seats – and was designed by the well-known architect Arnstein Arneberg and became a church built in concrete in 1958.
Ullensaker church is the main church and the fourth in a row that was built in roughly the same place. The previous church, a wooden cross church from 1768, was struck by lightning and burned down in 1952. The current church was consecrated on 12 October 1958 by Bishop Johannes Smemo with King Olav present. The architect was Arnstein Arneberg, and the frescoes were done by Alf Rolfsen. Both of these people were among the best in the country in their fields. Ullensaker church is also called "Romeriksdomen" and is among the biggest sights in Ullensaker municipality. The church has a baptismal font from the 12th century, a wrought iron ring from the Middle Ages on the main door and a church bell from the Middle Ages. The church also has a baroque altarpiece from 1633, a pulpit from 1649 (presumably painted by Kjeld Stub) and old oil paintings, the oldest from the 1600s. The interior is covered with biblical motifs by Alf Rolfsen.
