To the west of Krokskogen, at Kleivstua is the "King's view" 487 meters above sea level. Here there is a panoramic view of the Tyrifjord and the Steinsfjord, with the Gaustatoppen in Telemark, Skrim and Blefjell at Kongsberg and Norefjell on the horizon.
The vantage point was given its name after King Karl Johan had been here in 1840 and became impressed. It is a half hour walk from Kleivstua to the lookout point. Kongeveien – The Kings Road- from Lommedalen to Sundvollen was the main road to Bergen in old days.
