Street Art and murals in Sandvika

In recent years, international urban artists and local art enthusiasts have decorated the walls, undergrounds and columns of Sandvika with street art. We have mapped out some of the highlights you’ll find in Sandvika. Enjoy a different gallery experience.

Here you will find everything from Munch-inspired works of art at Løkkehaven in the underpass under Elias Smith's way by DUER to stenciled art around Rådmann Halmrasts vei by Varg Wolfgang.

In addition, Sandvika has several beautiful sculptures in public spaces, e.g. along the river promenade from Løkkehaven down to Kadettangen.

It is in the nature of street art that some works may have been changed or disappeared completely as part of the renewal of Sandvika city. The art around Helgerudgården will disappear in connection with the rebuilding of the entire quarter.

Sjøholmen is only a 10 min walk from Sandvika and here you will find a gallery with changing exhibitions, an underwater sculpture park by Jason Tyler and an art café.

Henie Onstad Art Centre is a 20 min walk towards Høvik. Follow the coastal path. Here you will find 30 sculptures in the outdoor sculpture park as well as the art center with changing exhibitions of contemporary art. Welcome into the forest, out into the water and around the lawn where you will find the famous "Soluret" by Arnold Haukeland and the characteristic "Filipstadbananen" by Trygve Fredriksen.

Bærums Verk also has a lot of great art and well worth a visit in beautiful surroundings. The sculpture park with 29 sculptures by the country's leading sculptors, art handmade by the blacksmith Tobbe Malm who took the initiative and made the monument «Iron Roses» in memory of the assisinations on July 22nd. Adore ceramics, graphics and paintings in the galleries. Visit the glassblowers at Klart Glass and enjoy a good meal at one of the eateries. Located in beautiful surroundings along the river Lomma - only 20 min by bus to Bærums Verk.

Martin Whatson. The largest mural in the municipality is made by the local famous artist Martin Whatson and you can find it at Bekkestua primary school. Martin is one of the country's leading graffiti artists with murals in several places in the greater Oslo region and is a renowned artist abroad.
