We are currently working on branding Frogn as a sustainable destination, a national and recognized destination branding scheme that gives a stamp of quality to destinations that have committed to sustainable development.
Innovation Norway: Sustainable Destination
One of the main focus areas for Visit Drøbak & Oscarsborg in the future is to work on sustainable tourism.
Addressing sustainability challenges in tourism requires attention to both the overall picture and the details of a destination.
Innovation Norway's label for Sustainable Destinations is a management system to ensure that destinations work as sustainably as possible.
Visit Greater Oslo, in collaboration with Frogn municipality, has been granted NOK 800,000 from Innovation Norway to work on the "Sustainable destination label". The process leading up to initial marking takes approx. two years and contains various investigations, plans and measures.
Frogn municipality, Visit Drøbak & Oscarsborg work together with Visit Greater Oslo and the tourism industry in the municipality to become a sustainable municipality and destination. At the beginning of September 2024, the work started and the steering group had its first meeting.
Environmental certification "Eco Lighthouse" for the town hall
The "Sustainable Destination" standard asks whether the municipal administration in the municipality being applied for is environmentally certified. In March 2024 the town hall of Frogn was certified as a Eco Lighthouse.

Environmental certified businesses in Frogn
Two tourism businesses in Frogn have the status of being environmentally certified; Reenskaug Hotel and Oscarsborg Hotel & Resort. In total, 15 businesses are certified as environmentally friendly in Frogn. Learn more about how your business can become environmentally certified at miljofyrtarn.no.

Citizen survey about tourism in Frogn
An attractive destination should also be a good place to live. That's why we conducted a citizen survey where we wanted to hear how tourism affects you as a resident of Frogn municipality. The results of this survey will be used to work for a tourism industry that takes the local community into account.
The survey was concluded on 31 January 2025.
Summary of Resident Survey Results – Frogn Municipality
The resident survey conducted in Frogn between November 2024 and January 2025 received 867 responses and revealed generally positive attitudes toward tourism. A large majority (80%) expressed a positive view of tourism in the municipality, and 96% agreed that they want visitors to have a good experience in Frogn. Most residents did not feel that Frogn (73%) or Drøbak town center (59%) was overcrowded due to tourists. However, parking challenges were highlighted, with 78% acknowledging that visitors contribute to such issues. Seasonal visitor levels were seen as balanced in summer (52%) and spring (44%), while autumn and winter were considered to have too few visitors by 60% of respondents. Open comments reflected both appreciation for tourism and concerns about traffic, parking, and infrastructure.
